It might seem counterintuitive, but brand new homes in Manchester often have some of the weakest locks. Developers fit the cheapest locks that meet minimum building regulations, which is far below what's needed for proper security.

Why new build locks are often inadequate:

1. Cost-cutting: Developers save money by fitting basic, non-anti-snap euro cylinders 2. Minimum compliance: Building regulations only require "a" lock, not a high-security one 3. Universal access: During construction, multiple tradespeople need access — meaning many people have had keys 4. Standard cylinders: Most new builds come with standard euro cylinders that can be snapped in seconds 5. Insurance risk: Factory-fitted locks may not meet your insurance policy's requirements

What we typically find in Manchester new builds:
